Modern Description: Excavations since 2014 on the old highway E of Pontolivado (S of the road) have made clear a well-build fortication with towers, and at least two public buildings of Hellenistic times. An inscription gives a dedication to Zeus Savior and King Philip. The city was a Thasian foundation, and signs of metal-working confirm its role in mining the rich veins on the mountain nearby.
