Modern Description: A city in Mygdonia on the eastern bank of the river Axios. Stephanos Byzantios mentions that it was founded by Amyntas. An Archaic and Hellenistic cemetery excavated northwest of Thessaloniki near Aghios Athanasios probably belonged to Herakleia.
