Modern Description: Kalindoia was located in Northern Bottike near the border with Mygdonia. Around 442 the Bottiaians formed a confederacy and concluded an alliance with the Athenians. Kalindoia participated in that confederacy. In 323 Kalindoia was annexed to Macedonia. Kalindoia is identified by an inscription with the site of Kalamoto, where two settlement mounds and the presence of Classical to Roman pottery inspired excavations from 2003 onward. A substantial Sebasteion, a sanctuary dedicated to the Roman imperial cult, has been uncovered, with a statue of Augustus and other finds.
