Modern Description: Beyond the landmark of the Gattilusi Towers the coast road follows the shoreline east, passing below the villages of Kato and Ano (Epano) Karyótes. Just beyond the turning to the latter, two ceramic workshops of the Hellenistic period have been excavated to both sides of the modern road, revealing also a complex of several kilns beside the shore which were given over to a production of wine amphorae which continued into Roman Imperial times.
