Modern Description: Keletron was a city in Orestis that occupied the place of modern Kastoria. The area has been occupied since the Early Bronze Age and was continuously inhabited until it was destroyed by the Goths during the 4th century CE. On Saint Athenasios hill were uncovered remains of fortifications and houses dating from the Early Bronze Age. West of the town on the mountain Vigla or Psalida were also found traces of fortifications. Inside the city tombs of the Iron Age (between the 8th and the 6th century) were excavated between the district of Bairaki and the TEI. The Hellenistic city was fortified on the neck of the peninsula. On the hill of Psalida an altar of Zeus was uncovered in 1997. Some scholars believe that a temple existed on the place of the the Early Byzantine church of Saint Paraskevi and the Ottoman Kursun camii.
