Modern Description: A flat-topped hill just south of the Mavroneri river S of Neokaisareia has remnants of an 11th c. Byzantine fortress, the name of which, Βοηνάς, and date are established by a fragmentary inscribed brick found on the site. Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Hellenistic burials and storage areas attest to long-term occupation of this strategic nexus. (https://www.academia.edu/3988859/)
