Modern Description: Excavations under the direction of V. Kallipoliti-D.Feytmans in 1948-49, 1950, 1958 and F. Petsas in 1960, 1963 have uncovered a cemetery that was in use from the 16th century BCE until the end of the 4th century BCE. A substantial Roman cemetery was destroyed by railroad station construction. A monumental tomb with statuary was found on Arkadiou street nearby.
