Modern Description: Singos was a city in Chalkidiki. The city provided Xerxes with men and ships during the campaign of 480 BCE. During the 5th century it was a member of the Athenian League. Its inhabitants probably participated in the synoecism of Olynthus. It might have been destroyed by Philip II. The excavations near modern Ag. Nikolaos uncovered parts of the center and the harbor of Singos. The city was protected by a wall constructed during the Classical of Hellenistic period.
