Modern Description: Punta Della Carpinia is located on a high ridge a kilometre or so inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea approximately 16 kilometres north of Velia. Its isodomic walling was discovered in the 1970s when construction crews cut through the remains when building a RAI television repeater tower. Numbers of the isodomic block were simply pushed to one side or discarded down the hillside where they mostly remain to this day. Punta Della Carpinia is at the north‐west extreme of the study and is not intervisibile with any other sites in the study area. Its area of focus seems more oriented towards (perhaps) Poseidonia. It has sweeping views of the sea surrounding this area and it is intervisibile with Poseidonia, able to relay information about the approach of shipping and ground movement to it.
