Modern Description: Pimpleia was a small town inside the territory of Dion. It was famous in antiquity as the place of birth of Orpheus. Pimpleia is identified with a site north of the stream of Korakas inside the army camp of Litochoro. Tumulus cemeteries have been excavated near the streams of Xydias, Ourlia, Gavrolakkos and Arapi.
