Modern Description: The road leading east out of Sarandaporos passes (2 km) beside a substantial fortified acropolis, identified by its escavator Athanasios Tzafalias of the 15th Ephoria of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities as theacropolis of the ancient city of Doliche, whose residential areas continued east to the river. The fortification wall is 3 m thick, with round and square towers.
