Modern Description: Colle Dei Greci is badly known site situated on a high hill overlooking the upper Sinni valley. It is one of the few fortified sites know in the upper Sinni valley and seems strongly associated with Castello Seluci situated some 8 kilometres away on the opposite side of the valley. The site itself has not been systematically excavated although burials areas surrounding it on the lower slopes were examined in the 1980’s and seem to contain mainly 6th and 5th century material. Recent survey outside the summit has found ‘Hellenistic‐Lucanian’ period ceramics and fattoria has been identified. The wall line of the site is hard to identify but seems to follow the natural contour of the hilltop. Colle Dei Greci has a commanding view of the upper Sinni valley and when combined with the viewshed of Castello Seluci it controls a large area of access to the Upper Sinni.
