Modern Description: Prastioli is a small ‘satellite’ site of Serra la Citta. It is located on the top of a high ridge overlooking the Valley that separates it from Serra la Citta. The site presumably covers only the small hilltop where the polygonal wall is located. Prastioli is only intervisibile with one other site – Serra La Citta and it seems likely to have played an observational or ‘lookout’ role for Serra La Citta. It perhaps also had some connection with regulating the Lucanian Sanctuary ‘Rivello’ some 500 metres across the Fiumara Noce which it overlooks. Observation on the ground showed polygonal wall lines in the area as indicated by Guandalini.
