Modern Description: A city below Metsovon in S Epeiros, reputedly founded by Odysseus (StBiz s.v.). There are remains of a circuit wall ca. 940 m long; and funerary inscriptions and bronzes have been found. (N.G.L. HAMMOND). The site is on a ridge W of the Vlach village of Votonosi, about 120 m above the Arachthos/Metsovitikos river. A stretch of ancient wall is preserved to a couple of courses, per Hammond in 1967.
