Modern Description: The site, possibly but not certainly a city as well, was one of the most renowned sanctuaries and oracles of the Magnesians, that of Apollo Koropaios, which flourished from the Archaic period into the Roman; remains of an Archaic temple have been excavated below Petralona hill on the left bank of the river Boufas. The finds are housed in the Volos Archaeological Museum.
On the top of the hill are building remains from the Archaic to the Roman period, from the settlement of ancient Corope.
