Modern Description: This tomb, one of the largest Mycenaean tholos tombs in Thessaly, is dated by Intzesiloglou to the late Mycenaean period by a LHIII cup found nearby and an Egyptian faience scarab seal from the 19th Dynasty (1292-1190 BC) . The grave was discovered in 1917, partly looted; follow-up excavations in 1997-9 discovered a fine gold seal ring, three stone seals, and the scarab. In the 6th c BC the tomb dromos received simple offerings, including a tile inscribed with the name of Aiatos, the father of Thessalos, a descendant of Herakles and presumably believed to be buried here.
