Modern Description: Ancient Voukatio has been identified with the site of modern Paravola, on the northern coast of lake Trichonis. The city's fortification comprised an enclosure, best preserved on its northern side, but partially destroyed to the south. It had been first constructed in the 5th cent. B.C., with several repairs until the Hellenistic period. The ancient acropolis', which follows the contours of the hill, most prominent feature is a well preserved semicircular tower with three windows. Remains of the ancient city and its cemetery have come to light by rescue excavations in recent years.
