Modern Description: Euripos was an ancient city, member of the Akarnanian Confederacy. Some researchers identify Euripos with a site west of Saradiniko, on the west bank of the river Nissis near Loutraki. West of the site of Saradiniko occupied during the late Hellenistic and Roman period there are remains of a Classical and Hellenistic settlement and a cemetery. Pritchet identifies Euripos with Rouga islet on the southern coast of the Ambracic gulf, ca. 4km. from ancient Thyrreio, occupied during the Hellenistic and Roman period. The settlement was fortified and a small excavation in 1990 uncovered fragments of grave stelae and on eastern part of Rouga bay the remains of an ancient temple and of a Roman bath.
