Modern Description: Echinos was a member of the Akarnanian Confederacy. There are few mentions of Echinos in ancient sources. An epigram found at the site of Kastro mentions a temenos of Apollo. The site of Kastro was inhabited from the Geometric period. Part of the fortifications is preserved in good shape.
