Modern Description: A dirt road, signposted for Tithronion, leaves the main road N between Ano Kalyvia and Amphikleia. As it begins to descend into the valley of the Kephisos river, impressive fortification walls can be seen on the hillside to the left across the river. From the signposted stopping point on the saddle of the hill, across the river, a five-minute walk through a tunnel in the bushes leads to the grass-covered traces of a large fortified ancient city. The site is identified by modern scholars with Tithronion, even though the ancient sources say Tithronion was both insignificant and situated in the plain. The site has not been excavated, but buildings can be traced in the grass.
