Modern Description: Taking the road W from Evangelistria, the northern neighborhood of Kastellia, you reach a church at the foot of a rocky hill. A dirt track on the N side of the parking lot leads to a water channel. Following faint goat tracks steeply uphill to the left one will in ten minutes reach a tower and curtain wall of massive limestone blocks, a fort controlling the valley of the river flowing from ancient Pindos/Akyphas. This fortress has been linked to Erineos, one of the four cities of the Dorian tetrapolis.
