Modern Description: "The ""Chlomo"" palaiokastro of Gravia, unsignposted and little known, is a fortress of fine polygonal masonry crowning a gentle hill about 700 meters NNW of the modern Gravia secondary school. The best preserved section is the west side. The site commands a good view of the valley of Doris. Originally thought to be the acropolis of Kytinion, when that city was linked by inscriptions to Palaiochori, Gravia was reidentified with Boion, another of the four cities of the Dorian Tetrapolis. Gravia is strategically located controlling the key pass to Amphissa and Ozolian Locris. It is famous in modern Greek history for the khan of Gravia, where in May 1821 a small Greek contingent under Odysseus Androutsos delayed the passage of a large Ottoman army. The inn has been reconstructed across the street from the original site.
