Modern Description: A narrow asphalt road in the village of Mariolata winds uphill to the modern cemetery on the hilltop south of the village About half way up the road passes a substantial Classical fortification wall surrounding the hill. More of the wall can be found at the summit beside the cemetery. Given the position beside a deep gorge, this site has been associated with the Phokian town of Charadra. At the base of the hill, where the road to the cemetery begins, a tiny disused chapel of Agios Dimitrios is built atop an early Christian basilica incorporating ancient spolia.
