Modern Description: The site of Derion was probably inhabited already during the 5th century BCE. If not earlier, at least during the second half of the 4th century it became a member of the Akarnanian Confederacy. Derion might be identified with the ruins at Skourtou. They comprise an acropolis, fortification walls and probably a settlement.
