Modern Description: The hill on the coast road just S of Chalkida and the Arethousa spring has been proposed as ancient Kanethos hill. No obvious access trail, but the hill is easily scrambled up from the main south highway. A substantial sherd scatter, wheelmade, unpainted, possible Geometric and Byzantine, with Geometric ? rubble fortication wall foundations, one large column drum from a monument, and medieval windmill base.
