Modern Description: The site is a large mound in the hills between the Halys and L. Tatta in the NW corner of Cappadocia. A small town, it was a meeting place of Eumenes and Attalos from Galatia and Ariarathes from Cappadocia in 180 B.C. for their campaign against Pharnaces of Pontos (Polyb. 24.14.8-9). Important junction of roads NW to Ankyra S to Archelais via Nitalis (Ortakoy?) and E via Mocissos (Kirsehir?) to Caesarea Mazaca. (R. P. HARPER)
