Modern Description: Ancient Hypnia is known from one mention in Thucydides and the fragmentary text of a treaty of sympolity between Hypnia and Myania from ca. 190 BCE. The two cities must therefore be near one another. With Myania placed at Agia Efthymia, Lerat placed Hypnia at the nearby village of Tritaia (renamed from Kolopetinitsa in 1928). A rubble fortress wall crowns the summit (574m) of Gardiki hill N of the village.
