Modern Description: Along the rocky coast of Astakos bay, ca 450m. from its northeastern corner, lies the small bay of Aghios Panteleimon, 11.5km from Oniadai. Overlooking it is a fortified conical hill. The fortification is circular in plan and measures 350m., incorporating 6 semi-circular towers. Ruins of a 5th cent. B.C. building have come to light northwest of the fortification. The site has been tentatively identified with ancient Marathos
