Modern Description: A 22x10 meter tower, preserved to three courses of trapezoidal masonry, with a Hellenistic cemetery of cist graves N of it (at Gyros) is preserved SE of Makrini village (formerly Makrisi), in the Kokovista locality, on E side of a large field overlooking the Erateini/Xerias river gorge S of the paved Makrini-Milia road. It has been speculatively identified as Alope or Messapia or another small Lokrian town. Declared archaeological zone, and TT icon is inside the zone.
