Modern Description: Nasos was a small city, taken by the Romans from the Akarnanians and given to the Aitolians about 212 BCE. The site has been identified by William Murray. A rough fortification wall, of which only small traces and rooftiles remain of W, S, and E walls, commands a former bay on the eastern side of Skoupas hill, formerly an island, now silted in by the Achelous river. Remains of a square watchtower, 'Elliniko', on the next hill 300 m to the east.
