Modern Description: Overgrown and difficult of access, walls atop a rock outcropping on the SW shore of the lake of Dystos. "The remains at Loupaka are impressive. The wall can be followed for 250m, most of the segments are between 3 and 6m wide, and some are still conserved to a height of 3,9m. The masonry is composed of large roughly-cut blocks, stabilised by small chinking stones. Such masonry is unique in central and southern Euboea.... Loupaka as a “Cyclopean” wall built during the Late Bronze Age. If such a date can be confirmed, this site would become the first Mycenaean fortification known on the island." One possible function might be to guard the katavothroi that still drain the lake. (Sylvian Fachard, https://www.academia.edu/3798141/A_Cyclopean_Wall_at_Loupaka_Near_Dystos )
