Modern Description: The precipitous Philagra hill (Akrotiri, ca. 270 m) dominates the shores 2 km NE of the village of Yannitsi. A bad dirt road ascends from Giannitsi beach (taverna), with a better dirt road from Akteo. The fortification wall of large schist slabs, with two towers and bastions, surrounds its S and E sides. Traces of slag (scoria) imply the existence of a mine hereabouts.
