Modern Description: Three km west of Marathonas are the ruins of a large country villa with cultivable fields all around and a tower in which the produce was stored. The Pythion, sanctuary of Apollo, which is identified with the large rectangular building near the Medieval tower of Oinoi, belonged to the ancient deme of Oenoe. In the form of a peristyle with marble pillars in which couches were fixed, it was perhaps donated by Herodes Atticus.
