Modern Description: Erythrai was an important point on the border between Attica and Boeotia; the probable location (per Kendrick Pritchett) is at the site of a metochi (dependency) of Ag. Meletios monastery at the base of a hill approximately 1.5 km west of Daphni village (Darimari). A rough stone oval fortification crowns the hill, small and with no finds suggesting a formal acropolis. Large ancient blocks in the ruined spring house of the metochi may mark the ancient spring.
