Modern Description: Badly damaged foundations of the peristyle of a large Doric temple of the 6th or early 5th c. BC were excavated from 2005 by E. Kolia, encompassing the modern chapel of Profitis Ilias on a rise NE of ancient Kyreneia. Fragments of Parian marble pedimental sculpture and decorated ceramic acroteria. A smaller distyle in antis temple of the 4th c. BC is 50 m. to the west, built using blocks from its neighbor. Foundations of a large stone altar were also found.
