Modern Description: An elaborate Hellenistic tomb monument, excavated in 1974-5 at the foot of the hill of ancient Kyreneia, E of the main road just N of Mamousia Achaia on a saddle marked by a church of Agios Konstantinos. This heroon, in Ionic style with a frieze of shields, was constructed probably after 250 BC, perhaps to honor a local general. However, there are graves dating from the 6th c and later at the site, which is thoroughly fenced and locked.
