Modern Description: Unsignposted. Nothing is visible, but a locked door at the bottom of back stairs at Sotiriou Lontou 19 might have something behind it. A subterranean chamber, carved in the bedrock, was found in a salvage excavation for an apartment building, by the archaeological service. An eight-step stair led to the chamber. A niche was carved in the wall opposite the entrance, where the cult relief of Mithras was probably placed. The relief must have been destroyed or stolen after the chamber was disused (at the middle of the 3rd cent. A.D.). The deposits covering the chamber produced large quantities of animal bones and signs of fire, related to ritual dinner of the Mithraic cult.
