Modern Description: Archaic Doric temple, possibly mid-6th c. BCE, and traces of ancient road, excavated 2000-7, by Greek Archaeological Service archaeologists A. Vordos and M. Petropoulos. Rather poor foundations of a peripteral temple 14.6 x 32.4 m (6x13 columns?); limestone blocks of lower courses, roughly worked, a few with Z clamps; Corinthian rooftiles but no trace of stone columns or superstructure, presumably wooden. Ruins of chapel of Ag. Sostis atop cella/pronaos gave name to the location, but chapel long-destroyed.
