Modern Description: Lebedus is located on the Kisik peninsula. In the 3rd century BC its inhabitants joined those of Colophon and Teos and settled in Nea Ephesus. Sections of the Archaic defensive wall are visible.
The city shrank in the Early Byzantine period. In the E sector of the walled Kisik peninsula are the remains of an Early Christian three-aisled basilica.
