Modern Description: On a hilltop just E of the main road from Magoula to Stefani in West Attica is a Classical/Hellenistic fortress guarding an easy route from Boeotia where it enters the Thriasian plain. The ancient name is unknown, and it is called Plakoto from a nearby settlement. A round watchtower at the summit is enclosed by a well-built rectangular wall, with preserved gate, and a third, outer circuit wall of rougher masonry. Lots of classical rooftiles. About 500 m from the road, an easy scramble on faint goat tracks following the spine of the hill from the NE.
