Modern Description: This site is accessible by a very steep (400 m in 1.4 km), rocky path that disappears into scrub oak at crucial moments and should not be attempted alone.
'On the knob of Mylos (898 m) in the saddle between Megali Kolosoura and Liondari, about 2 km east-southeast of the Ag. Georgios fort, are the foundations of a round tower, 7.2 m in diameter, preserved to a maximum height of 1.1m in 3 courses. The masonry is trapezoidal isodomic; block size is 70-100 x 40-45 cm. A large number of fallen blocks are scattered on the site; the tower is reported to have been about 10 m high as recently as World War II. Abutting the tower to the north and west is a rubble circuit of about 25 x 33 m; a smaller semicircular tower or buttress extends from the southwest corner. Black-glazed rooftiles and coarseware sherds are common on the site. Traces of another building are located about 25 m southwest of the corner of the circuit; a few ashlar blocks and much coarseware are found about 100 m south of the tower on the southern edge of the saddle. No datable pottery has been found on the site, but the masonry suggests a fourth-century date; the rubble circuit may be roughly contemporary.' (J. Ober, Fortress Attica, p. 172)
