Modern Description: During surveying for a tunnel on the new Corinth-Patras highway, archaeologists located at Marmara, just SSE of Aigeira, a substantial sanctuary spread out on two terraces. Finds included a naiskos, an ash altar, and two statue bases with children's feet still set in lead. Offerings date from the 7th c., but the buildings and most of the offerings are from the 4th c. and the shrine seems to go out of use in the early 3rd c. BCE. A bronze mirror was dedicated to Eleithyia, a metal key to Demeter. The site is unsignposted but unfenced (2020) and easily accessible as a short detour off the road to ancient Aigeira; the exposed lines of rubble wall give no indication of the purpose of the area, and the terrain is somewhat treacherous.
