Modern Description: Boura, one of the twelve ancient Achaean cities, was swallowed up along with most of its residents by a landslide triggered by the same earthquake that drowned Helike in 373 BCE. Rebuilt by the survivors, the city became part of the Macedonian kingdom and then the Achaean League. The site has been identified with the hamlet of Kastro Diakoptou, on a mountainous area northwest of Ano Diakopto. Visible remains are limited, comprising a small section of the fortification, retaining walls, stray blocks f rom various buildings, as well as two chamber-like tombs at Fournoi locality. Access is via a rough, steep dirt road from Trapeza, to the N, or Kalyvitis, to the S.
