Modern Description: Found just inside the Dipylon gate on Classical foundations, a round altar, ca. 1 m in diameter, with a Hellenistic inscription identifying it as belonging to Zeus Herkeios, Akamas,and Hermes. Zeus Herkeios is the manifestation of divine power that polices the sanctity of the household. Akamas is the tribal hero of the Akamantis tribe, to which the deme Kerameis belonged.
