Modern Description: Nothing is visible, with even the distinctive windmill long gone. Various scholars have suggest a shrine of Helikonian Poseidon or else that this was the true sanctuary of Artemis Agrotera. The ancient grammarian Pausanias describes Agrai, "Demos in Bk I of Atthis writes: 'The area above the Ilisos toward Eilethyia agora; the old name for the raised bank, which is now called Agra, is Helikon, with an ash altar of Helikonian Poseidon on top.' And in Bk IV,' to the Metroon sanctuary in Agrai'."
