Modern Description: The shrine of the Dioskouroi or Anakeion played an important role in Athenian military life. Its location should be somewhere below the cave of Aglauros at the E end of the Acropolis. A 2006 Hesperia piece by Geoffrey Schmalz proposes a site for it near the corner of Thespidos and Rangava in Plaka, Athens (http://www.ascsa.edu.gr/pdf/uploads/hesperia/25067975.pdf)
