Modern Description: The ruins on the hill named Kastritsi, 3km. from the monastery of Vlasia, had, for a number of years, been wrongly identified with ancient Tritaia, while ancient Leontio was associated with the modern village bearing the same name - Leontio(ex Gourzoumiza), until A. Wilhelm suggested that ancient Tritaia should be identified with Agia Marina. So, the aforemεntioned ruins were identified with ancient Leontio.
Polybius lists the city among the original twelve Achaean cities and the ten that still existed in his time. The fortification of the city has been preserved on Kastritsi hill. Within the walls was the theatre, excavated in 1958 by N. Yialouris, while remains of various buildings can be seen scattered on the hill.
