Modern Description: A sanctuary of Herakles ἐπὶ Πορθμῶι is known from an arbitration inscription connected with the Salaminioi in Sounion. It is thought that Porthmos should be the little harbor at Pountazeza NE of Sounion. For the translation of the inscription (Agora XIX L4) see Attic Inscriptions Online.
