Modern Description: Ruins of the ancient country town (kome, κώμη), sometimes a polis, sometimes under Argive control, between the modern village of Kleonai and the railway station at Aghios Vasileios. Sections of the acropolis wall and the settlement are visible, as well as the sanctuary of Herakles outside the town, with a temple and altars within a peribolos. Excavations in 2011 at the ancient agora found remains of monumental buildings converted in the 6th c. to a Christian basilica.
