Modern Description: The discovery of some column drums and a scatter of pottery inspired archaeologist G. Papandreou to identify this site with Pausanias's Mesoboa. On the river below is an Ottoman bridge built, according to legend, in 1512 by a local figure, Cernotabey, who found an ancient buried treasure and prudently turned it in to the Sultan. (G.
